The situation#

Currently, students often depend on printing shops located outside or away from their college campus for printing assignments, project reports, notes, and other academic documents. This requires them to spend additional time travelling, waiting in queues, and carrying physical documents between locations. During assignment submissions and examination periods, the demand for printing increases, leading to longer waiting times and inconvenience.

In many colleges, there is no easily accessible automated printing facility available on campus. Students therefore have limited options when they need an urgent printout.

INKZY addresses this situation by providing an automated, on-campus printing kiosk that allows students to upload documents, select printing options, make digital payments, and collect their prints conveniently from the kiosk.

What is going wrong#

  • Students have to leave the college campus to access printing services.
  • Time is wasted travelling to and waiting at external print shops.
  • Long queues can occur during assignment and project submission periods.
  • Urgent printing is difficult when nearby shops are closed or crowded.
  • Students have to depend on external vendors for simple printing requirements.
  • The existing process is mostly anual and does not provide a convenient, automated campus-based solution.
  • There is limited integration of digital document upload, online payment, and automated print collection in one system.

Why it is not fixed yet#

The problem has not been fully addressed because traditional printing shops are still the most common and easily available option for students. Setting up an automated printing kiosk inside a college requires investment in hardware, printing equipment, payment systems, software, maintenance, and secure document handling.

Additionally, colleges may not have an integrated system that connects digital document uploads with automated printing and collection. Because of these technical, operational, and cost-related challenges, a convenient self-service printing solution has not been widely implemented on college campuses.

INKZY aims to overcome these challenges by combining a digital printing platform with a smart, automated kiosk designed specifically for the college environment.
